MEXC Exchange Review: Is It Safe & Legit in 2026?

MEXC is a global crypto exchange with very low trading fees, more than 3,000 listed digital assets, and high-leverage futures, but it is not licensed or available in every country. It serves over 40 million users across more than 170 countries. Still, people in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and several other blocked regions cannot open or use an account.

In this MEXC review, we will cover its fees, supported coins, futures trading, security features, KYC rules, and withdrawal process. You will also learn whether MEXC is safe in your country, who should use it, and which alternatives may suit you better.

What Is MEXC Global Crypto Exchange?

MEXC is a centralized crypto exchange that lets you buy, sell, hold, and trade digital assets from one account. The platform was launched back in 2018 under the name MXC Exchange, then rebranded to MEXC a couple of years later, and it has grown fast ever since.

You get access to spot markets, leveraged futures, savings products, and even a stock-trading arm called RealStocks, all inside one app or website. MEXC mainly built its name around altcoins. It lists new tokens faster than most big-name exchanges.

Now, below is a quick snapshot to give you a first glance at what MEXC actually offers:

What Are the Pros of MEXC?

The pros of MEXC are low trading fees, 3,000+ supported coins, copy trading, built-in bots, advanced futures tools, and published Proof of Reserves.

• Zero-fee spot maker orders: You pay 0% on maker orders and just 0.05% on taker orders, well below the industry average.
• Huge coin selection: You can find more than 3,000 crypto coins on MEXC. It has top coins like Bitcoin, but it also has low-cap tokens that you will not find on other platforms.
• No mandatory KYC for basic use: You can sign up, deposit crypto, and trade spot or futures without submitting ID, at least up to a daily withdrawal limit (limits and no-KYC availability depend on region).
• Copy trading and bots: The platform includes copy trading, grid bots, and DCA tools built right into the interface.
• Advanced tools for futures: You get high leverage, hedge mode, cross or isolated margin, trailing stops, demo trading, and bots. Even BTCUSDT and ETHUSDT can reach 200x leverage in some eligible regions.
• Proof of reserves: MEXC publishes reserve ratios that generally sit well above 100% for major assets like BTC, ETH, and USDT.

What Are the Cons of MEXC?

The cons of MEXC are limited regulatory approval, no direct bank withdrawals in most regions, possible risk-control freezes, third-party fiat services, and thin liquidity on some smaller coins.

• No license in major markets: MEXC does not have approval from the SEC in the US, the FCA in the UK, or a MiCA license in Europe. Because of these missing licenses, nowadays, the platform completely blocks users from the US, UK, and Canada.
• No direct bank withdrawal: You cannot send fiat straight to your bank account from MEXC in most regions, so cashing out takes an extra step through P2P or even a second exchange.
• Risk-control freezes: Actually, some users report accounts getting locked for identity or fund-source review, which can hold up withdrawals for days.
• Limited fiat on-ramps: Mostly, direct card and bank deposits go through third-party providers like Banxa, MoonPay, and Mercuryo rather than MEXC itself in many regions.
• Thin liquidity on smaller listings: Some of the newest altcoins carry very thin order books, so a bigger order can easily move the price more than you would expect.

What Are the Fees on MEXC?

MEXC charges basic trading fees of 0% maker and 0.05% taker for spot trading, plus 0% maker and 0.02% taker for futures. Crypto deposits are completely free, while withdrawal fees can easily vary by coin and network, and some trading pairs may have different rates (based on active campaigns).

Spot Trading Fees

MEXC charges 0% in spot maker fees and 0.05% in spot taker fees for standard accounts. A maker order is the one that sits on the order book and waits to get filled, while a taker order is the one that matches instantly against an existing order. MX token holders receive a 20% fee reduction, and discounts apply to eligible spot trades as well.

Futures Trading Fees

MEXC charges a 0% futures maker fee and around 0.02% taker fees for futures trades. This rate can change a little bit based on the contract and where you live, and high volume traders may qualify for better pricing through tiered programs where available in their region. Also, funding rates settle every 8 hours on most pairs, and it usually range between 0.01% and 0.03%, either positive or negative.

Deposit & Withdrawal Fees

You do not have to pay any deposit fee when you add crypto to MEXC, no matter the coin or network. For crypto withdrawals, the fee depends on the specific coin and network you pick, and it goes up or down based on network traffic.

Fiat deposits and fiat purchases usually rely on third-party providers and can vary by region, provider fees, and processing times.

Well, a USDT withdrawal on the Tron network, for example, usually costs (1 USDT fee) far less than the same withdrawal on the Ethereum network (2-5 USDT fee), so picking the right chain easily saves you real money.

Are the Trading Fees on MEXC High?

No, MEXC’s trading fees rank among the lowest in the entire crypto exchange industry. A 0% maker fee on both spot and futures markets beats what Binance, Coinbase, and most other big platforms charge by default. Even the 0.05% spot taker fee and 0.02% futures taker fee sit well under typical industry averages, which often run close to double those numbers. Claims about zero fees mainly refer to maker pricing and occasional exchange promotions, not every trade type.

How to Reduce the MEXC Trading Fees?

You can reduce your MEXC fees in several ways, and the easiest one is simply placing limit orders instead of market orders. Limit orders count as maker orders most of the time, and maker orders cost 0% on both spot and futures. You can also use the MX token to reduce fees by 20% and use our referral code “mexc-bestbonus” to further reduce fees by 10%.

MX Token Fee Discounts

MX is MEXC’s native token, and mx token holders get a direct discount on trading fees. You get a 20% discount on spot and futures fees once the required MX balance is met, and discounts apply automatically with no extra step needed beyond holding the token.

Quick Note: MEXC suspended its older 50% fee discount for holding at least 500 MX. It is temporarily suspended.

MEXC Referral Code

The MEXC referral code “mexc-bestbonus” gives a new eligible user up to a 10% trading-fee discount and access to welcome tasks worth up to 10,000 USDT. You must enter the code while creating the account.

But remember, the full 10,000 USDT is not free cash. Actually, it requires KYC, deposit, and trading-volume tasks, and larger futures rewards usually come as credit you cannot withdraw directly. You can only withdraw profits.

Is MEXC Safe and Legit Globally?

Yes, MEXC is a safe and legit exchange that serves 40 million real traders, but “legit” here does not mean “fully regulated everywhere”. The platform runs real security infrastructure, publishes proof-of-reserves data, and has operated without a major hack since 2018. Still, it holds no top-tier license in the US, the UK, or under the EU’s MiCA framework, so your legal protection depends heavily on where you live.

Basically, MEXC is safe in the technical sense, meaning your funds face reasonable protection from hackers, but it is not “safe” in the regulatory sense the way a bank-backed or fully licensed exchange would be.

Also, there have been complaints about MEXC locking user funds through its risk control system. These freezes are mostly due to abnormal cryptocurrency trading activity in the user’s account.

Regulatory Status

MEXC does not hold any worldwide license that makes every service legal across 170+ markets. In fact, it is a highly unregulated exchange and operates without any license.

Note: MEXC also says it is registered with AUSTRAC in Australia, and in Europe, the exchange uses a local company called MEXC Estonia OÜ to handle some of its legal and compliance work. But again, we could not independently verify these claims, and it seems they are either false or the license is still pending.

Also, the exchange does not have a MiCA license in the EU. The rule deadline was July 1, 2026, so platforms without a license have to get approved or stop taking EU users. Because of this, things are still changing, and we still have to wait and see if people in Europe can use it.

MEXC is currently not available in the US, UK, Canada, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Mainland China, Iran, North Korea, Cuba, Sudan, Kazakhstan, Russian-controlled parts of Ukraine, and high-risk areas. Plus, hiding your location can lead to account closure and forced liquidation.

So, is MEXC legit? Yes, it is a real exchange. Is it fully regulated globally? No. The difference between those two answers is important.

Available Security Features

MEXC’s available account security features are 2FA, passkeys, anti-phishing code, withdrawal address whitelist, and manual temporary account freeze.

• Google Authenticator (2FA): You can link Google Authenticator to generate a new six-digit security code every 30 seconds, even without an internet connection. Generally, MEXC uses it as an extra check for sensitive actions such as logging in, trading, and withdrawing crypto.
• Passkeys: MEXC supports passkeys that easily let you verify yourself using your fingerprint, face recognition, or device PIN instead of entering normal verification codes every time.
• Anti-Phishing Code: You can create your own anti-phishing code, which MEXC then displays inside genuine emails sent to your account. Hence, it helps you identify fake emails.
• Withdrawal Address Whitelist: You can turn on a withdrawal whitelist so crypto can only be sent to wallet addresses you have already approved. Also, MEXC even offers a security restriction that places a 24-hour waiting period on newly added whitelist addresses.
• Account Freeze: MEXC lets you freeze your account quickly when you believe someone else has gained access to it.

Asset Protection

MEXC mainly backs user funds with a $100 million Guardian Fund. This one is built specifically to cover users if the platform ever suffers a hack or major technical failure, and MEXC says it also protects user assets through cold and hot wallet separation. Now, on top of that, the futures side runs its own risk reserve fund, which has held more than half a billion dollars in crypto assets.

MEXC also publishes monthly proof-of-reserves reports, and recent figures show reserve ratios staying pretty healthy, well above 100% for major coins. Hence, this means the exchange holds more crypto in reserve than users technically have on deposit.

What Are the Unique Trading Features of MEXC?

The unique trading features of MEXC are crypto spot trading, high-leverage perpetual futures, stock futures integration, automated bots, and copy trading.

Crypto Spot Trading

MEXC spot trading gives you access to one of the largest selections of cryptocurrencies among major centralized exchanges, with over 3,000 coins and a large range of spot pairs. Here, you can buy the actual crypto using pairs such as BTC/USDT or ETH/USDT, and the purchased coins then appear in your Spot wallet.

You can either place a market order when you want to buy or sell quickly, or use a limit order when you want to choose your own price. MEXC also gives you more order controls than just basic market and limit orders. The spot platform supports TP/SL, OCO, and trailing stop orders.

MEXC pairs its spot market with popular tools like grid bots and dollar-cost averaging, so even a beginner can easily automate a basic buy-low strategy without watching charts all day. The web platform is also easy to access from a browser if you prefer a desktop-style layout.

Crypto Perpetual Futures With High Leverage

MEXC’s futures market lets you trade over 900 perpetual contracts, with leverage reaching up to 200x on BTCUSDT and ETHUSDT pairs. Remember, altcoins have generally lower maximum leverage compared to BTC or ETH.

Currently, the exchange offers USDT-M, USDC-M, and Coin-M futures. USDT-M futures are the easiest to understand because you use USDT as both your margin and settlement currency.

Now, for USDC-M, you will be using USDC as a settlement currency, and for Coin-M, you will be using an underlying currency like BTC or ETH as a settlement currency. MEXC also supports cross margin and isolated margin, along with limit, market, trigger, and other advanced order types.

Stock Futures Integration

MEXC Stock Futures let you trade the price movement of major U.S. stocks directly from its futures platform. You can use crypto such as USDT as margin.

The trading platform currently offers stock futures linked to companies such as Apple, Nvidia, Tesla, Amazon, Alphabet, Meta, Coinbase, Robinhood, and McDonald’s, along with other available contracts.

Actually, MEXC uses the same general trading interface as its crypto perpetual futures, so the controls will already look familiar to you if you have used MEXC futures before. You can take both long and short positions, and some stock futures contracts even support leverage of up to 200x.

Automated & Copy Trading

MEXC offers many automated trading tools on desktop/browser access and its mobile apps. The main options include Spot Grid, Futures Grid, AI-assisted Futures Grid, and Futures Copy Trading.

Well, grid trading automatically places buy and sell orders inside a price range that you choose. Here, you need to set the upper price, lower price, number of grids, and investment amount, and the bot then tries to buy lower and sell higher as the market moves between those levels.

MEXC also provides futures grid trading, and you can run up to 10 futures grid bots at the same time. The feature currently works with USDT-M futures. Plus, its AI mode can study historical data to suggest the price range, number of grids, and leverage for you. User reviews often praise MEXC’s intuitive interface and easy navigation, while the app is also noted for stable, fast execution.

MEXC’s copy trading tool lets you automatically mirror the trades of experienced traders. You can compare traders using information such as ROI and PNL and then select the futures pairs you want to copy.

What Are MEXC Supported Cryptocurrencies and Trading Markets?

MEXC supports more than 3,000 digital assets along with many new altcoins and memecoins, and several crypto, futures, fiat, and stock-linked markets.

MEXC Supported Cryptocurrencies

MEXC supports major cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, XRP, BNB, Cardano, Dogecoin, Tron, and Litecoin. Plus, the stablecoins list includes USDT and USDC, while the wider list shows the exchange supports exposure to both mainstream assets and very new micro-cap projects across DeFi, meme coins, AI tokens, GameFi, Layer 1, Layer 2, DePIN, and real-world assets. Spot trading covers over 3,000 pairs, while the futures side runs more than 900 perpetual contracts. Many of these smaller tokens also appear on MEXC before they become widely accessible on decentralized exchanges.

MEXC Supported Trading Markets

MEXC’s supported markets span more than 170 countries, making it one of the most widely available crypto exchanges anywhere. Now, a specific set of jurisdictions stays fully blocked, though, and that list currently includes the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Singapore, alongside sanctioned states like North Korea, Iran, Cuba, and Sudan, plus several Russian-controlled regions of Ukraine. The European Union sits in a gray zone right now too, since MEXC holds no MiCA license.

How to Open a Trading Account on MEXC Crypto Exchanges

You can open a MEXC account by checking country eligibility, registering with an email or phone number, completing KYC, securing the account, and adding funds.

Step 1. Check your country first: You must not live in or access the exchange from a prohibited region. Plus, using a VPN to hide a blocked location breaks the “User Agreement” and can put withdrawals at risk.

Step 2. Open the official website or app: Visit the MEXC Global ltd official website, enter your email address or phone number, and create a unique password. Add the referral code as well. So, enter “mexc-bestbonus” in the referral field to link the fee discount and eligible new-user tasks. MEXC sends a one-time code to your email or phone. Enter it to finish the basic registration.

Step 3. Complete identity verification: Now, go to the “Identification” section in your account security tab. Select your country and document type, upload a clear ID, and finish the face check if the chosen level asks for it. You must also add security settings like 2FA, phishing codes, etc.

Step 4. Deposit or buy a small amount first: Go to the “Deposit” button under “Assets”, choose the exact coin and network on both platforms. We would suggest using a test transfer before moving a large balance. If supported, you can also deposit fiat currency under the “Buy Crypto” section.

Step 5. Place the first trade: Finally, you can visit the “Trade” section. Spot is the simpler starting point, and futures should wait until you understand margin, funding, liquidation price, and stop-loss orders.

Does MEXC Require KYC?

MEXC may or may not require KYC for trading, depending on your region. You see, MEXC used to be a no-KYC exchange, but nowadays, due to continuous regulatory scrutiny across regions, it has mandatory KYC verification in some countries (we were unable to get the exact list of countries). So, you may expect a KYC message if you are in highly regulated crypto countries.

Now, without KYC verification (wherever supported), MEXC has daily withdrawal limits of 10 BTC every 24 hours. You can increase your limit by completing either Primary or Advanced KYC, as higher limits generally require identity verification and may vary by region. Primary KYC allows withdrawals of up to 80 BTC within 24 hours, while Advanced KYC increases this limit to 200 BTC and includes additional features like OTC trading.

What Documents Are Required for KYC?

MEXC’s Primary KYC tier asks for a government-issued ID, like a passport, national ID card, or driver’s license.

Advanced KYC adds a proof of address requirement on top of that, usually a recent utility bill, bank statement, or official government letter dated within the last three months. Plus a live selfie to match your face against the document.

Also, institutional accounts need company registration paperwork and board-level documentation instead of personal ID. Every photo needs to be clear and unedited, since blurry or altered images are a common reason verification gets delayed or rejected.

How Long Does MEXC Verification Take?

MEXC verification normally finishes within about 15 minutes, but a review can take 8 to 24 hours. Actually, a busy market period, blurry image, data mismatch, unsupported document, or failed face scan can even make it slower.

Can You Withdraw Money From MEXC?

Yes, you can withdraw money from MEXC, though the process works a bit differently than a typical bank-linked exchange. If a withdrawal issue comes up, MEXC offers 24/7 customer support through live chat and email. You see, MEXC does not support direct fiat withdrawals to a bank account in most regions, so you need to either use the built-in P2P marketplace or move your crypto to a second exchange that does support bank withdrawals.

Now, through P2P, you must sell your crypto directly to another user who pays you through bank transfer, and MEXC holds the funds in escrow until both sides confirm the trade went through. The alternative route sends your crypto, usually a stablecoin like USDT, to an exchange such as Binance, Kraken, or Coinbase, where you sell it and then withdraw the cash straight to your bank. Some users also report delayed withdrawals, especially when compliance checks or P2P disputes are involved. Fiat support remains limited, and the exchange supports cash-out mainly through P2P or transfers to another platform rather than direct bank rails in most regions.

What Are the Alternatives to MEXC?

The best MEXC alternatives are Binance, Bybit, Coinbase, and Kraken. Here is a quick comparison:

Who Should Use MEXC?

You should use MEXC if you want access to a large altcoin selection, low trading fees, high-leverage futures, copy trading, built-in trading bots, and other unique features.

• Altcoin traders: MEXC is really a good fit for you if you mainly look for early access to smaller or newer cryptocurrencies. As discussed earlier, the exchange lists thousands of spot trading pairs, so you get more choice than on many larger regulated platforms.
• Futures traders: You can prefer MEXC if you actively trade perpetual futures and want access to high leverage. Well, some selected BTC and ETH contracts can offer leverage of up to 200x.
• Active traders looking for low fees: MEXC can work well if you trade frequently and want to keep trading costs very low. Its standard spot and futures fees are very low compared to other exchanges like Binance or Bitget, and some spot campaigns offer zero fees on eligible pairs.
• Traders who use bots or copy trading: MEXC is useful if you want to automate part of your trading instead of placing every order yourself. You can use grid bots, AI-assisted futures grid tools, and copy trading from the same account.
• Professional traders who want more market choices: MEXC suits experienced traders who want access to spot, futures, stock futures, and advanced order types in one place, and it can also appeal if you want extras like a token issuance platform and occasional token sales alongside the main exchange. Basically, you get a lot of advanced tools, but the platform can feel a bit much for someone completely new to crypto.

Now, who should avoid MEXC? Mainly, beginners who want strong consumer protections, direct bank withdrawals, and a fully regulated home base in the US or UK, though, should probably look elsewhere, since MEXC simply is not built for that kind of user; beginners looking for demo accounts that mirror live markets may also prefer a more education-first setup.
