According to the profile, XRP is a decentralized, payments-focused blockchain with a native token. It also mentions that the account is shared by both Ripple and the XRP Ledger Foundation.

The organization of that structure will provide a direct connection with two of the most prominent organizations in the XRP ecosystem and will focus on XRP and not one organization.

Right after that account appeared, Ripple jumped the bandwagon and embraced the launch. CFO Brad Garlinghouse also spoke out on social media, hinting that it had been expected for quite a while.

21,700 Followers Arrive on Day One

According to data mentioned in reports during the first day of the account, it attracted approximately 21,700 followers in the account and was following 42 accounts. The way that many people responded before demonstrates the size of the community that waits for a dedicated channel to communicate using XRP.

Updates have been around the corner for XRP previously, but from Ripple, the developers of the XRP Ledger, community, and XRP ecosystem organizations. Communication via the official @XRP account will be easier to discern and keep track of when it is in a standalone existence.

Ripple and XRPL Foundation Share Management

Ripple and the XRP Ledger Foundation will run the account together, the profile reads.

Whoever it might be, be it a company or a native asset of a blockchain, this distinction makes Ripple valuable since it employs products and services developed with XRP and XRPL technology, while XRP is the asset of the blockchain. Also, there is a disclaimer on the account informing the users that it does not provide investment advice.

A detailed publishing plan has not been announced. It is not yet known if the account will feature updates to XRP Ledger, ecosystem projects, payments development and community activity or any other XRP-related announcements.

For XRP, the new account provides a new layer of identity for the blockchain asset, at a time when communication across crypto ecosystems is gaining importance.

Its immediate followers indicate that the account may very shortly turn into a key hub for updates related to XRP and the XRP Ledger Foundation, particularly if they make major announcements about updates to the ecosystem from this account.
